Dr. Luis V. Colom is
the Director of the Center for Biomedical
Studies and Chair of the Biological Sciences
Department at the University of Texas at
Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. Dr.
Colom obtained both his medical and doctoral
degrees in his native country of Uruguay. His
extensive research training was obtained at the
Ramon y Cajal Center in Spain, the University of
Calgary in Canada, Florida Atlantic University
in the U.S. and Baylor College of Medicine in
Houston, Texas. Since his arrival to UTB/TSC,
Dr. Colom’s team of researchers have made
numerous contributions to science and have
obtained a significant amount of federal funding
for biomedical research and infrastructure.
Approximately 12.1 millions dollars have been
awarded to the department of Biological Sciences
since 2001. Dr. Colom has an outstanding
publication record in the area of neuroscience.
His publications can be found in prestigious
journals, such as the Journal of Neurophysiolgy
and Brain Research. |
